Account holders of prominent banks across the country, including SBI, were mandated to keep minimum balance in their account. Following the mandate, the accounts of the cities have been made compulsory for every month to keep the minimum balance, not doing so, the money started from the account.Every account holder does not have to keep balances in all other private and PNB banks other than SBI. Although banks have applied this rule to all types of savings account holders before, but now there is a change in this rule in some of the more specialized accounts.It was mandatory to keep such a balance:According to the rules of banks, account holders of metro cities are required to keep in the account of Rs 3,000, in big tier-II cities, Rs 3 thousand in small towns and Rs 2 thousand in small towns andRs 1000 in rural India. In the first metro cities, the limit was Rs 5000. That was reduced by SBI.SBI gives big relief:Now the country's largest bank SBI has now eliminated compulsions for keeping the minimum balance in public account, salary account, student account and staff account. With this, the accountsopened for pension account holders, any government scheme opened under the scheme and those opened for boys below the age of 18 are also excluded from this.Bank reduced Penalty:The bank has also reduced the penalty on non-maintenance of minimum balance. Now the accounts opened in small towns and rural countries have ranged from Rs. 20 to Rs. 40. In theurban and metro cities, this penalty is Rs 30 to Rs 50.
